Место создания – Болгария. Переписано между 1355 и 1356 годами монахом Симеоном для царя Ивана Александра (годы правления 1331-1371). Рукопись датируется по записи писца Симеона на л. 274-275. По-видимому, после того, как в 1393 году Велико-Тырново взяли турки, манускрипт был перевезён в Молдавское княжество. Позже он был выкуплен из залога Иваном Александром, воеводой Молдавии (возможно, это Александр Добрый, годы правления 1402–1432). В документе XVII века он упоминается как часть коллекции монастыря Святого Павла, гора Афон, Греция [Димитрова 1994, с. 21]. Подарен Роберту Керзону, английскому путешественнику и коллекционеру в 1837 году.
